At Montgomery Park Dental, we recognize the fact that most people aren’t overjoyed about needing dental work. Even those of us who know how important good oral health is to our quality of life and our overall health are likely to be at least a little nervous about visiting the dentist. But for some people, that anxiety is overwhelming. In fact, some patients will either postpone their dental visits or – worse yet – not come in at all. Dr. Jovanovic understands that some people are anxious about seeing the dentist, which is why she offers two different dental sedation options to her patients from throughout The Woodlands, Conroe, Willis, and Spring, Texas area.
What Is Sedation Dentistry?
You probably know that if you need to have some type of surgery performed, you’ll need to be sedated beforehand. That form of IV sedation renders you completely unconscious while the surgeon performs the work that needs to be done. Later, you wake up after surgery with no memory at all of the procedure. But you may not know that dentists offer milder forms of sedation for their patients.
Dental sedation is different from the sedation that you receive prior to surgery. Sedation methods used in dentistry are designed to put the patient completely at ease, but still allow them to remain awake during their procedures.
Sedation Methods We Offer
There are different types of dental sedation available to patients depending on their level of anxiety. Dr. Jovanovic offers the following forms and can help you decide which is best for you:
